On the afternoon of May 26, 2021, the School of Civil Engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology successfully held the 121st to 123rd sessions of the "First-class Strategy" Young Doctoral Forum. Zhang Zongsheng, senior engineer of Shanxi Architectural Design and Research Institute, Professor Li Haiwang and Associate Professor Cheng Xin of the School of Civil Engineering, and representatives of doctors and masters in related research directions of the school attended the forum.

The forum consists of four parts: doctoral report, expert comment, question and discussion, and assessment. Zhang Jie, a 2015 doctoral student, and Song Xiayun, a 2016 doctoral student, have successively made the research on “the calculation model of the plastic hinge of the rod element considering the influence of joint stiffness and plastic cumulative damage”, and “the calculation model of the plate bearing considering the influence of ultra-low cycle fatigue damage research” academic report. The three assessment experts questioned and discussed in terms of the lecturer's report, research content, research quality and research contribution, and made wonderful comments.

This "first-class strategy" youth doctoral forum fully demonstrated the academic accomplishment and comprehensive ability of the doctoral students of the School of Civil Engineering. It has played an important role in enhancing scientific research capabilities, promoting academic exchanges, and creating an academic atmosphere.
